In the expansion stroke, the fuel is ignited by the spark produced by the spark plug and burns. Just before the third stroke, the expansion stroke, a spark is produced across the electrodes of a spark plug.ģ. Here the piston compresses the air-fuel mixture into a smaller volume.
Second step is known as compression stroke.
